STATEMENT

Vista Oral somos Maite Muñoz y Alicia Escobio.

Vista Oral is a collective composed by Maite Muñoz and Alicia Escobio based between Los Angeles and Barcelona. We are interested in notions of failure, the useless, the impossibility of translation and the boundaries of language. We understand the act of curating as an intersection between theory and praxis and as a needed platform that allows for the fluidity of their symbiotic co-existence. We see the role of the collective as fundamental to co-existence that enables the conditions for artistic production to occur. It is a place where boundaries are eliminated between the theorist, the artist and the curator. Curatorial practice is conceived as a research process that includes the co-development and construction of participative spaces in which artistic outcomes are the result of exchange between critical tools and micro-narratives, and between different cultural agents. We manage a pop-up space, 56x45x25 and our recent projects have focused on publishing practices.
